December 27 2007Ngaws,
I go to the JASMS blog from time to time pero wala akong makita kahit anino up to now. I was thinking that you old folks must have been exhausted from the event and had to have time to recuperate and allow for all that prescription meds to kick in. I know its hard for you guys to resist the temptation to do ballroom dancing, pero easy - easy lang, para hindi mamatay ang mga kuko sa paa.
Ngaws, isinuot mo ba yung especial mong Nik-Nik during the big nite? Sinabihan ko nga si Pahantz na wag na wag na niyang pa-patungan ng BLAZER ang BARONG and that it was not meant to be that way. He was so downtrodden after learning that, but reassured him its still OK for him to wear his white boots.
Are you still breathing well inspite of the humongous amounts of tobacco products you have consumed all those years?
Marami akong kilala dito na pinoy na after quitting for sometime, they developed other diseases far worse than what they were trying to avoid. Although I have also kicked the habit ( 2years). I believe our bodies got so used to it thatonce we quit, it tricks our bodies to do something else in its absence. Doctors here are also thinking along those lines.
Anyway, kung natigil mo na , keep it that way para pumuti uli ang teeth mo at hindi mag -amoy bodega ng fertilizerang hininga mo. OK? I guess this is it for 2007, padala ka naman kahit teasers (foto) nung event.
Happy New Year and regards to all.Art P Prollamante
Marathon Reunion with Phantz--December 18, 20, 21 and 22
Masaya ang December 18 welcome home party namin with Phantz, Cindy and their two charming daughters, Leslie and Stephanie. Present were Koots, Beth and kids Carlo and Marray (dumaan lang), Dick and wife Susan (who despite their busy sked in their catering opted to stay on till closing time) Monty and wife Lanie, Steve, Jale, Ray and wife Joy, Robert and wife Cora, Tony and wife Margie, Marcial and friend Roland plus special guests per request of Phantz...Hermie and Nato. Pati IQ? Hahaha! Tumagal ang party till about 3am.
Hahaha! We also held a 3-day get-together marathon with Phantz from December 20 to 22...kasi nga naman...matatagalan uli mangyari ang samahang ganito. O baka nasa home for the aged na kayo...na bawal ang magpuyat. Don't worry, we will visit you there regularly.Hahaha! On December 20, we held it at our place in Merville, Paranaque. Koots, Beth, Jale and would you believe Froilan was there? Last time I saw him was during his archery days. Had dinner, a couple of drinks and lots and lots of kuwentuhan which lasted till about 5am the next day. Hahaha!
Tuloy ang ligaya on December 21 miski baldado pa sa puyat the previous nights. Kami lang nila Jale, Jane and yours truly were with Phantz. We went to Strumms, a bar where live band performances are held. We enjoyed an impressive group called "Retrospect" and an emerging front-act band "X Appeal". We all enjoyed the night till the last set at around 230am... with Cuba Libre, the rum coke combo and per Phantz, the favorite poison of best friend Koots during his swinging days...plus nachos spiked with Jalapeno. Rapsodiously good!Final leg and hopefully not the last was our get-together sponsored by Koots. We had a delectable dinner of Kabalen cooking at a place called "Kalye Juan" along Sampaloc Avenue near the corner of Timog. Rapsa ng luto... balot pastel, pritong hito with burong isda, kare kare, talong with buro again...and chicken nilaga. Present were Koots, Beth and son Carlo, Jale, Jane and I and si walang-dudang- pongs-na-pongs, Hermie.
We hope to see Phantz and have another get-together no matter how brief it may be before he leaves on January 1. Phantz and family were scheduled to be in Banaue and Baguio after Christmas...and are expected back before the year ends. Cindy and the kids are still sked to go back there on January 4.
NEXT REUNION AY YUNG SA IYO NAMAN. Looking forward to that day.You take care at magiinuman pa rin tayo miski hinayhinay na lang. And don't forget to write and send some photos.
God bless. Rene

Greetings from Bobs
My, my, my, how I’d love to personally greet you all with a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Emi: You were quiet throughout high school and elementary. How about telling us what’s going on with you.
Ruby: Kamusta na. Did you sell your restaurant? Balita ko nabuhay si Ibong Adarna. That was momentous! Are you still in PhilAm? Any balita from the other girls in PhilAm homes? Eleanor dela Cruz, Doris Ildefonso, Linda Dacanay, Rosina Dalisay, Tessie yap…meron pa ba?
Tess: Whats the latest in QC weather. Nararandaman na ba ang global warming? Nagbabaha narin ba sa QC every year? Balita ko lumulubog na ang Manila. Totoo ba yon?
Winston: Wish I could shake your hands, and laugh at our childish animosities.
Marcial: No response from you yet? Since we were kids I thought for sure magiging mayor ka ng Caloocan.
Monty: Thanks for the call. Three yrs ago na ba yon? Chris said hello. Kamusta daw. Nice to finally see your wife and daughter. Your cousin Cesar Malapitan was here in DC last year. We got together with another fellow from Caloocan named Vic Garcia. Baka kilala ni Marcial yon.
Robert: The last time I talked to you was 1974, remember that? We hardly talked throughout the elementary and high school years and I know you don’t talk much but I’m dying to get an update directly from you.
Pantz: Must be nice to be back in the hood with the rest of the homies. Hope you and your family enjoy Philippine Christmas. The last time I spent Christmas there was 1975. I still remember the sounds of the church bells in Philam every Christmas.
Speck: I saw you here, tapos you were in Texas, now you’re there. Kung saan saan lupalop ka uaabot. Did you just come out of the hospital or beer garden (hehehe). I expected to see you thin and pale but glad to see you’re up and about and looking good pre.
Hale: I like Batangas dre. Pero when we went to Talisay 2004 I forgot to ambag for the ride. So I owe you some money.
Koots: Sino na nalo, red team or yellow team. Nag mumukang fans mo mga kaklase natin ah. How is your business?
Ray : Last time I talked to you was in Session Road. I can’t remember how that happened, do you? I think I know where your resto is. Kaya next time I visit papasyalan kita.
Dick: I showed my son the aikido technique you thought me. He was impressed! Are you still in the restaurant business? Do you still go to Gapo?
Alex: The last time I was there, koots mentioned your name and I could not remember you. Pero after seeing your pic naalala ko na. Tahimik ka rin.Turing: I am thinking of going to Mandalay to watch Pacman vs Marquez sa March 15. Doon na tayo siguro magkikita. The tickets are priced from $100 – 600.
Armin: Perhaps you can ask your travel agent to arrange a stop over in Las Vegas during Pacman’s fight.
Parang nag sasalsa ☺ Thanks!
Steve: Good luck sa show mo. I will attend if I can. I’m sure you know that.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL! Bobs

Stib, kumusta na. I'm sorry to have taken so long to respond to your kind notes and pictures. I was hoping to be able to send some pictures of my family kaya lang may aswang yata ang mga computer namin sa bahay--sabay sabay nagkaroon ng problema. In addition, I've been in the process of interviewing for a new job. In fact, I'm sitting in a hotel in Phoenix AZ which is about 2000 miles from my home in Maryland because I'm in training for my new job, and typing this letter on a laptop that comes with the position. As you may know, I am married to Stephanie, my wife of 27 years (so far), and we are quite happy together. We have two sons, Evan (23) and Tyler 19.
Some Memories of JASMS:
-cigarette butts on the bathroom ceiling
-saying "aray" when a fellow student was talking seriously
-going to high class Bel Air parties by public bus with Henry and Shmoo
-reading playboy magazines with Armin during class-stealing sandwiches from ben boy (80% mayonaisse, 20% tuna)
-Armin paying for the sandwiches later
-Koots drop kicking de Ocampo (how satisfying to see!)
-Ray B. Breaking into the cafeteria one night-playing ping pong at Ray B's house. losing to him all of the time
-going to the Black Angel night club with Baby Cuadrado, Henry and Shmoo. Seeing someone shot in the parking lot.
-"my heart a ches" a quote from Aytona regarding "aches"
-Ray B blowing a small hole in the basketball court with a mini-bomb-walking into a party with Susan Lopez and hearing the other guests whispering "mga taga-JASMS" in absolute awe
-sitting on the hood of my family car at 5 am with Shmoo and Henry, eating warm pan de sal, looking at the Marikina valley from Blue Ridge subdivision, wondering about our futures.
-Quiet conversations with Robert Jara-an intelligent, cultured and humane person-Dennis's ability at long shots. His enormous hands
-Dennis demonstrating his expertise by opening everyone's locked lockers
-Miss San Pedro ANGRILY turning down our request to re-name the boys' bathroom "Seniors Smoking Lounge"
-singing songs with Shmoo, along with Koots excellent guitar work. Afraid to look up at the audience because I knew I couldn't sing
-Mr DeFiesta commanding: "stop that guitarizing there!"
-offending the heck out of Mrs Gueb the Biology teacher. She had good intentions, but I was too stupid to listen. But I did finish graduate school....
-standing in line behind Shmoo, goosing his behind with my thumb--only to have him instantly retaliate by farting on my hand. I wonder if he still has the ability to do it on command?
-Raffy, me and Shmoo and a few others, pushing Henry's stalled sports car along highway 54, by Fort Aguinaldo-people yelling for us to go get a carabao.
-Kim Barker's nicotine-stained fingers and teeth-aaiiichimisaprajkpoooor [Santa Mesa project 4] hawkers in Cubao.
I hope I didn't bore you with my memories. I have hundreds more. I miss you all. Just remind everyone not to forget an old classmate who has not forgotten them.
Best wishes, Art Minsberg
Email Update from Pantz
I would just like to inform you of my new e-mail address. I was having some problems with sbcglobal so hopefully google may be better. My new e-mail address is jamlang88@gmail.com . Thank you for all your e-mails, past and future. Hope to see you all soon! Pantz LIGAYA SA ”BAHAY LIGAYA”PART 2
Greetings mga Pongs,
We again had loads of ligaya last December 1 at Bahay Ligaya which lasted till about 1 o’clock in the morning.
A new cast of characters was present namely Armand Cristobal with wife Nancy, Tessie Kasilag with husband Ellis, Winston Ungson with son Stuey and Robert Jara with wife Cora.(8)
Old faces present were ever-gracious and resto owners and hosts, Ray Bueno and wife Joy (Ligaya); Koots Castaneda (proclaimed class president) with wife Beth and sons, Chucky and Carlo (parehong mukhang walking refrigerators sa laki ng mga kaha); Monty Sarabia with wife Lanie and their charming teenage daughter, Julia; Tony Benasa with wife Margie, Marcial “Boy” Samson with friend Roland, Steve Santos, yours truly with my one-and-only Jane. (Me Tarzan not Chitah…Hahaha!) (18)
Nancy related to us that Armin was so excited to see his old friends that he had wanted to leave their place at Quezon City for the venue as early as 4pm. (5pm was the official start of the affair).
Monty, Lanie and Julia together with Steve went straight to the venue from their prayer meeting in Tagaytay where they stayed overnight. Could you imagine Monty “Wow man…Heavy man” Sarabia ever being involved in a prayer meeting??? …and now a committed prayer warrior? Yes, Monty is indeed an honest-to-goodness follower of Christ…he was the one who led the prayers before dinner. Amen…Timonts! AMEN.
Winston Ungson arrived in the reunion with his son, Stuey. A totally committed father, a constant companion and best friend to his son, Winnie is truly a “man for others”… Ateneo ba ito o JASMS?
Marcial “Boy” Samson seemed slightly embarrassed to learn that it was the birthday of his soul-mate and fiancĂ©e, Jhonna, the “Bahay Ligaya” waitress whom he had met last October 27. He promised to buy her a condo unit first thing in the morning…after the imagined and much-desired “Good morning na, Sir!” scenario.
Everyone also seemed to be amazed by the fact that Robert Jara, the class valedictorian with the undisputed “Mr. Conservative” image could ever take a sip from the bottle of Chivas Regal. Like a trained and mukhang praktisadong manginginom taga(y) DENR, he slugged it out with Monty, Tony and Marcial…till the wee hours of the morning.
We all exchanged gifts but it was obvious that the biggest winner was Margie, the wife of Tony Benasa who got a“Steve Santos” painting. Who said the number 13 was jinx? It was the number 13 that Margie had drawn which won her the painting in a straw raffle.
Steve also advised us that he plans to hold an exhibit in June of next year…kaya sa mga gustong mag-invest diyan…magkita kits tayo sa exhibit niya ha!
Next reunion would be the December 18 welcome party for Phantz, who will arrive with wife Cindy and daughters, Stephanie and Leslie. The welcome party will again be held at Ray and Joy Bueno’s “Bahay Ligaya” restaurant on the 18th instead of the original date of December 19…as requested by our Guest of Honor. By the way, Phantz will arrive on December 17 at 6am. Phantz and family shall stay at a condo unit, owned by Pinky Tunn, a sister of Cindy at the Twin Towers along Ayala Avenue in Makati.(Landline: 893-6784)
(Joke lang Cindy…Si Phantz pa...ang pagkaalam namin sa kanya ay “Santo” (may lahing St. Bernard?)…mahilig sa prayer meetings…sharing…indeed, Phantz may be our present-day “Padre Damaso” …who preaches what he practices…the “missionary” position. Hahaha!)
See you guys on December 18 at “Bahay Ligaya” for LIGAYA Part 3.
“MEMORY PLUS” Gold…
para hindi lumala ang Memory Gap. Hahaha! Are you ready to party???
